Quantity Surveyor for BOQs

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and conducting cost analyses to support the successful delivery of construction projects. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure projects remain within budget and meet all technical and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with quantity surveying software, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BOQs) based on architectural and engineering specifications to support project planning and execution. Conduct thorough cost analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate the financial viability of proposed projects. Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, and engineers to identify and resolve any cost discrepancies throughout the project lifecycle.

Monitor ongoing project costs and expenditures to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. Evaluate contractor tenders by assessing both financial and technical criteria, providing well-informed recommendations for contractor selection. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, including budget revisions and expenditure reports.

Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and verify compliance with design specifications and quality standards. Assist in preparing contract documents and procurement schedules to facilitate smooth project operations. Provide expert advice on contractual claims and dispute resolution to protect the company’s interests.

Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment on-site.

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline is essential. Candidates should have between 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong focus on preparing and managing BOQs. A solid understanding of building regulations and construction industry standards is required.

Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary to perform cost analyses and documentation efficiently. Strong analytical and numeric skills are critical for accurate cost estimation and budget management. Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills are needed to liaise effectively with contractors and project stakeholders.

The ability to work well under pressure and meet strict deadlines is essential. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness to conduct site visits and work on-site as needed is also important.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Professional accreditation such as RICS or an equivalent certification is preferred and will be considered an asset. Candidates with a proven track record of managing budgets on large-scale construction projects will be highly regarded.

Experience across various sectors, including commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects, is advantageous. Strong verbal and written communication skills are important for clear reporting and stakeholder engagement.
