The World Food Programme (WFP), the largest humanitarian organization dedicated to saving lives and building pathways to peace and stability through food assistance, is seeking an IT Operations Officer (Digital Services) based in multiple locations across Pakistan. This role focuses on developing and maintaining efficient IT solutions that support WFP’s mission to deliver food assistance to vulnerable populations affected by conflict, disasters, and climate change. Key Responsibilities
- Develop plans and budgets for IT/Telecommunications (IT/TC) systems aligned with business needs, ensuring compliance with WFP corporate standards.
- Monitor and maintain IT/TC systems and networks, ensuring data security, access controls, and optimal user support.
- Contribute to technical specifications and tender documents for procurement of IT equipment, products, and services, adhering to WFP rules and cost-efficiency principles.
- Collect and analyze data to prepare accurate reports on IT activities, investments, and costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Maintain and enhance technical expertise by staying updated on industry developments.
- Advise managers and users on IT policies, procedures, and tools, resolving issues and ensuring proper application.
- Supervise junior staff, design training programs, and provide guidance on complex technical queries.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and deliver appropriate IT solutions.
- Implement emergency preparedness and contingency plans to maintain IT services during crises.
- Capture, analyze, and document business requirements using diagrams, flowcharts, and other tools to support IT solution development.
- Communicate business requirements clearly to ensure shared understanding and effective implementation.
- Manage IT service levels in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and conduct user satisfaction surveys.
- Oversee project planning, risk management, and problem resolution in collaboration with regional and headquarters teams, ensuring compliance with Business Relationship Management and IT Project Management standards.
- Develop, deploy, install, configure, and customize IT systems, including corporate tools like SCOPE and CFM (Sugar CRM), ensuring adherence to WFP IT policies.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation and specifications for developed applications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced university degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field is preferred. A first university degree combined with relevant work experience or specialized training may also be considered.
- Minimum of three years of professional or managerial experience in information management and system development, preferably within an international organization, government, or UN system.
- Experience in designing and developing systems and applications to meet business requirements.
- Proven ability to resolve IT support issues using specialized knowledge.
- Contribution to IT projects through business requirements analysis.
- Fluency in both oral and written English and Urdu.
