CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Regional Facilities Engineer to lead technical governance and operational oversight of critical facilities, technology rooms, and mission-critical infrastructure across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This role acts as the primary engineering authority for the MENA portfolio, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of critical engineering systems in support of client business continuity. The Regional Facilities Engineer will collaborate closely with clients, operations teams, project groups, and service partners to drive engineering excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
Provide regional technical leadership by overseeing mission-critical facilities and infrastructure, ensuring engineering operations comply with client standards, CBRE procedures, and industry best practices. Support site engineering teams with technical guidance and operational decision-making, driving consistency in maintenance delivery and operational excellence. Serve as the regional escalation point for complex technical issues and critical incidents.
Manage critical facilities operations by monitoring the performance of data centres, technology rooms, command centres, and other business-critical sites. Conduct technical reviews to ensure infrastructure reliability and resilience, evaluate maintenance effectiveness, and support site teams during abnormal conditions, system failures, and emergencies. Review equipment performance trends and recommend improvements to meet uptime and availability targets.
Govern change management processes for critical systems, reviewing and approving engineering changes that could impact business operations. Ensure all planned work undergoes risk assessments and technical reviews, acting as the final technical approver for high-risk changes. Promote adherence to client change control procedures and safe systems of work while minimizing operational risks through effective maintenance scheduling.
Lead incident management and outage response by conducting technical investigations, supporting 24/7 escalation for major events, and coordinating communications among site teams, management, and clients. Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans, monitoring the implementation of lessons learned. Travel to sites as needed to support incident investigations and business recovery.
Ensure technical governance and compliance with local regulations, statutory requirements, and client engineering standards across the MENA region. Conduct audits, risk reviews, and maintain engineering policies, procedures, and documentation. Support internal and external audits, monitor infrastructure risks related to aging equipment and operational vulnerabilities, and ensure accurate engineering records.
Support strategy development, capacity planning, and project delivery by reviewing power, cooling, space, and resiliency requirements. Identify infrastructure constraints and provide technical input into capital projects, upgrades, and lifecycle replacements. Act as a technical advisor during project design, commissioning, and handover, ensuring engineering requirements align with future business growth.
Manage vendor and stakeholder relationships by overseeing specialist contractors and service providers, reviewing performance and compliance. Collaborate with client representatives, project teams, operations management, and sustainability groups to promote best practices and support regional training initiatives.
Champion health, safety, and environmental responsibilities by fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with CBRE and client HSE requirements. Lead risk assessments for critical engineering activities, verify safe systems of work, and support sustainability and energy management efforts.
