World Business Lenders (WBL) is a privately held portfolio lender specializing in real estate-secured business loans for underserved businesses. Operating with a fully remote, multinational workforce and guided by an experienced executive leadership team, WBL offers a dynamic and flexible work environment. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, with occasional additional hours as business needs arise.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the operational compliance framework supporting WBL’s lending, servicing, and corporate activities. This includes maintaining a current, risk-based compliance program aligned with the company’s products and operations. Develop and update compliance policies, procedures, training materials, and controls while overseeing the Regulatory Associate and Compliance Associate to ensure timely completion of tasks. Monitor adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements such as usury limits, licensing, and disclosures. Manage regulatory change processes by assessing new rules, assigning responsibilities, and validating implementation.
Coordinate licensing, registration, examinations, and regulatory responses in collaboration with Legal and business stakeholders. Establish and execute risk-based monitoring and testing plans for compliance obligations, review findings, determine root causes, and track remediation efforts through closure. Escalate significant compliance issues promptly with clear risk analysis and maintain audit-ready documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Operations, Lending, Servicing, Finance, Internal Audit, IT, and others to embed compliance into daily operations. Provide concise reporting, dashboards, and risk summaries to Corporate Legal and executive leadership. Support product, process, vendor, and jurisdictional changes by identifying compliance requirements in advance and drive continuous improvement in compliance workflows and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in law, compliance, finance, business, public policy, or a related field is required. A JD or recognized certification in compliance, risk, audit, or financial services is preferred. Candidates should have at least five years of regulatory compliance, legal, risk, or audit experience within financial services or another highly regulated industry. A strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state legal and regulatory frameworks affecting lending, servicing, licensing, usury, and disclosures is essential. Proven experience in building or managing compliance policies, controls, monitoring, testing, training, issue management, and reporting is required. Prior leadership experience, including team supervision, work review, or project management, is expected.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in financial services sectors such as commercial lending, private lending, banking, fintech, specialty finance, or mortgage lending is highly desirable. Candidates should possess strong skills in regulatory research, change management, compliance risk assessments, control frameworks, monitoring, testing, licensing, disclosure, policy development, training, and examination support. Expertise in issue management, root-cause analysis, remediation tracking, and executive-level reporting is also preferred.
Key competencies include leadership, risk-based judgment, executive communication, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and accountability. Since this is a fully remote position, candidates must have a stable and reliable internet connection, a professional remote working setup, and the ability to work effectively within a multinational remote team while maintaining confidentiality.
