The Aga Khan University’s Department of Emergency Medicine in Karachi is seeking a Research Coordinator for a grant-funded contractual position. The role involves overseeing research activities within a busy emergency department that serves over 75,000 patients annually. The department is a regional leader in clinical services and academic programs, equipped with specialized units including adult and pediatric emergency care, cardiac emergency, and trauma services. The Research Coordinator will play a pivotal role in managing research projects, ensuring compliance with ethical standards, and contributing to high-quality academic outputs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide training to study staff in line with study protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure completeness, proper filing, and archiving of all study data and documentation.
- Prepare and compile study progress and monthly project reports in collaboration with the Data Manager.
- Develop high-quality research proposals and actively participate in conducting research.
- Coordinate Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Ethics Review Committee (ERC) submissions, including amendments, renewals, and closures.
- Oversee informed consent processes to ensure compliance with ethical standards.
- Maintain regulatory binders and ensure readiness for audits.
- Collaborate with co-authors and supervisors to maintain quality and accuracy of research outputs.
- Ensure compliance with journal guidelines and submission requirements for publications.
- Manage all project stages to guarantee timely completion and publication readiness.
- Identify and track relevant national and international funding opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with funder and institutional requirements.
- Coordinate internal reviews and ensure timely submission of funding proposals.
Required Qualifications:
- MBBS degree with a research certification.
- Minimum of one year of experience in health research.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various locations for quality assurance and staff training.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong commitment to research ethics and integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
