Research Coordinator, Department of Emergency Medicine

The Aga Khan University’s Department of Emergency Medicine in Karachi is seeking a dedicated Research Coordinator to support its high-quality clinical service and academic programs. This grant-funded contractual position involves overseeing research projects, ensuring adherence to protocols, and contributing to the development and dissemination of research findings. The role requires frequent travel to various locations for quality assurance and training of local staff, demanding a highly organized, self-motivated individual with strong communication skills and a commitment to research ethics.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive training to study staff in line with established study protocols and guidelines.
- Ensure completeness, proper filing, and systematic archiving of all study data and documentation.
- Prepare and compile detailed study progress reports and monthly project updates in collaboration with the Data Manager.
- Develop high-quality research proposals and actively conduct research contributing to academic publications.
- Coordinate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Review Committee (ERC) submissions, including amendments, renewals, and study closures.
- Oversee informed consent processes to ensure compliance with ethical standards.
- Maintain regulatory binders and ensure the research projects are audit-ready at all times.
- Collaborate closely with co-authors and supervisors to guarantee the accuracy and quality of research outputs.
- Ensure compliance with journal guidelines and manage the submission process for publications.
- Manage all project stages to ensure timely completion and readiness for publication.
- Identify and track relevant national and international funding opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to funder and institutional requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate internal reviews and ensure timely submission of funding proposals.

Required Qualifications:
- MBBS degree accompanied by a research certification.
- Minimum of one year’s experience in health research.
- Willingness to travel frequently to various locations for quality assurance and training purposes.
- Highly organized and self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong commitment to research ethics and high level of integrity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
