Located in Rawalpindi, this position within the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage research administration at Riphah International University. Reporting directly to the Director of ORIC, the Manager Research Management plays a pivotal role in expanding the university’s research portfolio by overseeing all aspects of research support. This includes managing pre- and post-award processes, handling SAP transactions, coordinating publication rewards, preparing HEC ORIC Scorecard reports, and supporting the ORIC Steering Committee. The role also involves fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, mentoring junior faculty members, guiding proposal development, and building strategic relationships with donors and industry partners to enhance research funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate clear procedures for pre- and post-award research administration. Provide faculty with comprehensive support on budgets, documentation, internal approvals, cost sharing, contracts, progress reporting, no-cost extensions, project staffing, and project close-outs.
- Process payments related to grants, rewards, honoraria, and ORIC events, ensuring accurate reconciliation with the Finance department. Verify and settle publication reward claims while maintaining meticulous records.
- Maintain and update the research database and dashboards. Prepare the HEC ORIC Scorecard with continuous evidence collection throughout the year. Serve as the secretariat for the ORIC Steering Committee.
- Oversee budgeting, auditing, accounting, human resources, facilities, equipment, and the implementation of research contracts to ensure smooth operational management.
- Implement and refine programmatic strategies that promote multidisciplinary research, ensuring alignment with ORIC’s annual goals and compliance requirements.
- Maintain a funding opportunity log, match funding calls to faculty expertise, advise on funding mechanisms, interpret review feedback, oversee large proposal submissions, and manage grant-writing workshops.
- Identify overlapping research interests across departments and campuses, creating forums to facilitate faculty collaboration and networking.
- Manage ORIC’s website, social media platforms, and develop the ORIC newsletter to highlight grants, publications, partnerships, and upcoming events.
- Administer internal and seed grant calls from announcement through review, award, progress monitoring, and project close-out.
- Plan and deliver an annual research training calendar for faculty and students, covering topics such as research methods, data analysis, scientific writing, and reference management.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold an MS/MPhil degree or an equivalent qualification from an HEC-recognized institution, accompanied by a minimum of three years of relevant experience in research management or administration.
