Key Responsibilities
The Research Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate identification and registration of patients in accordance with study protocols. This includes supervising and monitoring domiciliary visits and overseeing mortality and hospital surveillance activities. The role also involves monitoring disease surveillance data from non-project facilities across private, public, and NGO sectors. The specialist will provide training to study staff based on established protocols and guidelines, ensuring completeness, proper filing, and archiving of case report forms (CRFs). Regular surprise visits to households and field sites will be conducted to verify data quality. Additionally, the incumbent will prepare and compile study progress reports and collaborate with the Data Manager to generate monthly project reports. Presenting study results as required and contributing to the development of high-quality research proposals for funding agencies are also key duties. The role includes conducting research and contributing to scholarly publications.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Statistics, Public Health (MPH), Health Policy and Management (HPM), Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or a related field. A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required, preferably with additional certification or knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP). Experience in training teams on evaluation and intervention methodologies is essential. The candidate must be willing to travel frequently to remote locations to oversee quality assurance of research projects and provide training to local staff. Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and excellent interpersonal communication abilities are critical. Proven expertise in mixed methods research, teamwork, integrity, and adherence to research ethics are expected. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, along with strong computer proficiency, are necessary.
