Resident Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer with strong technical expertise in Fortinet security products and a solid background in enterprise and service provider networking. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Fortinet security solutions within complex customer environments. This role involves delivering network security projects, providing technical support and escalation, and supporting enterprise and service provider clients to ensure robust and secure network infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities

Fortinet Security Solutions:
Configure, deploy, and manage Fortinet FortiGate next-generation firewalls (NGFW). Implement advanced firewall policies, NAT, IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, security profiles, application control, web filtering, and intrusion prevention systems. Design and troubleshoot high-availability (HA) configurations and firewall clustering. Manage Fortinet FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized management, logging, reporting, and security analysis. Work with Fortinet FortiMail, FortiWeb, FortiAuthenticator, FortiNAC, FortiPAM, and FortiSandbox as required by customer projects. Support Fortinet security solutions involving SD-WAN, segmentation, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies when applicable.

Networking Expertise:
Demonstrate strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs, and inter-VLAN routing. Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and IS-IS. Understand switching technologies including STP, LACP, EtherChannel, and Layer 2/Layer 3 switching. Troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues involving routing, asymmetric traffic, NAT, and firewall policies. Possess working knowledge of MPLS, IPsec, GRE, and other WAN connectivity technologies. Operate in multi-vendor environments involving Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, and other networking platforms.

Professional Certifications and Development:
Maintain relevant Fortinet certifications and stay updated with the latest Fortinet products, technologies, and best practices. Participate in OEM training, technical workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Provide technical enablement and mentoring support to junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in networking and network security. Proven hands-on experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and associated security products. Demonstrated ability to implement and troubleshoot enterprise network security solutions. Strong understanding of routing, switching, TCP/IP, and network security principles. Experience working with enterprise customers, system integrators, telecommunications operators, or managed service providers. Ability to work independently, manage customer escalations, and deliver projects within agreed timelines.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) in Secure Networking or an equivalent current Fortinet certification. Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist (FCSS) in Network Security or an equivalent advanced certification. Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Juniper JNCIP, or equivalent networking certifications are a plus. Fortinet NSE 4 through NSE 7 credentials, depending on the candidate’s certification history.
