We are seeking a dedicated Safety Officer specializing in HSE and Compliance to join our team at Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. This full-time role involves hands-on involvement in safety inspections, training, and coordination with various teams to uphold workplace safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular floor inspections to ensure all safety measures are in place and operational.
- Inspect and maintain fire and emergency safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, hydrants, hose reels, smoke detectors, emergency lights, first-aid boxes, and eye-wash stations.
- Monitor adherence to safe working practices, machine safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support and participate in HSE training sessions, evacuation drills, and emergency response activities to enhance workplace preparedness.
- Coordinate effectively with firefighting and first-aid teams during drills and actual incidents to ensure swift and organized responses.
- Identify safety non-compliances, report findings promptly, and follow up to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Assist in supporting external audits, certifications, and visits by customers or buyers to demonstrate compliance and safety standards.
- Help prepare for social and environmental audits and assist with environmental testing as required.
- Promote safety signage and workplace safety awareness initiatives to foster a culture of safety among employees.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized university.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a similar safety officer role, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and audits, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Candidates who are able to reliably commute to Korangi Industrial Area or are willing to relocate prior to starting work will be preferred.
- This position requires physical presence at the work location to effectively manage safety operations and respond to emergencies.
