The Sales Manager will play a crucial role in driving the growth of exhibitions by identifying, engaging, and converting companies into exhibitors, sponsors, and participating organizations. This position requires close collaboration with the Project/Event Management and Data teams to develop targeted prospect lists, conduct outreach, nurture client relationships, and consistently meet exhibitor and revenue goals for each event. The ideal candidate will be proactive in building a strong pipeline and skilled in managing the entire sales cycle from initial contact to final confirmation.
Key Responsibilities
Client Acquisition
Identify and target companies relevant to each exhibition. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective exhibitors through various communication channels such as calls, emails, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and meetings. Present exhibition opportunities, including booth options, sponsorship packages, and participation benefits, with the goal of converting prospects into confirmed exhibitors.
Exhibition Sales
Develop a deep understanding of the industry and target market for each event. Create company-wise and industry-wise exhibitor prospect lists. Promote booth spaces, sponsorships, branding opportunities, and other commercial offerings. Negotiate participation packages within the company’s approved policies and consistently follow up until clients confirm or decline participation.
Client Relationship Management
Maintain professional and ongoing relationships with both existing and potential exhibitors. Understand client requirements related to booth size, location, branding, budget, and participation objectives. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure client needs are met and foster long-term relationships to encourage repeat participation in future exhibitions.
Sales Pipeline Management
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all prospects and client interactions. Track leads through various stages such as Prospect Identified, Contacted, Interested, Meeting Scheduled, Proposal Sent, Negotiation, Confirmed, Not Interested, and Follow-up Required. Provide regular sales pipeline updates and progress reports to management.
Market Development
Research new companies and industries that could be potential participants in upcoming exhibitions. Identify and engage potential exhibitors who have not previously participated. Expand the company’s exhibitor network by developing new business relationships. Monitor competitor exhibitions and industry events to identify new leads and opportunities.
Event Coordination
Work closely with the Project Manager and Event Team to address exhibitor requirements. Ensure confirmed exhibitors receive all necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Assist in resolving any pre-event client issues and maintain communication with exhibitors before, during, and after the exhibition to ensure a smooth experience.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales, preferably in exhibitions, events, or related industries
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Proficiency in using CRM tools and managing sales pipelines
- Understanding of industry trends and market dynamics
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
