Turing is a leading company specializing in AGI infrastructure, collaborating with cutting-edge AI laboratories to accelerate the development of advanced models. By providing high-quality training data, rigorous evaluations, and access to top engineering talent, Turing plays a pivotal role in advancing artificial general intelligence. We are currently seeking experts in Physical Sciences to contribute to the creation of realistic, terminal-based scientific tasks that will serve as benchmarks for AI reasoning and problem-solving capabilities in scientific domains.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop multi-step terminal tasks that reflect authentic physical science workflows, ensuring each computational environment is self-contained with fixed dependencies and relevant scientific software.
- Generate scientific inputs such as datasets, molecular structures, simulation parameters, experimental data, and model configurations to support task development.
- Implement expert-level solutions using programming languages and tools including Python, Bash, C/C++, Julia, or domain-specific software, covering areas such as simulations, numerical modeling, data fitting, optimization, spectroscopy, molecular analysis, and scientific visualization.
- Create automated tests to verify numerical accuracy, physical consistency, convergence, and output structure, establishing appropriate numerical tolerances, units, boundary conditions, and expected scientific outcomes.
- Ensure reproducibility and successful execution of tasks without requiring runtime downloads, and troubleshoot issues related to dependencies, numerical precision, solver stability, performance, and file formats.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, or equivalent advanced technical expertise in a relevant physical science discipline such as physics, chemistry, materials science, astronomy, or computational science.
- Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in scientific computing, including Python, C/C++, Julia, or Bash.
- Experience working within Linux or other terminal-based environments.
- Strong background in numerical methods, scientific modeling, simulations, or quantitative data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to independently create and validate computational scientific workflows.
Engagement Details:
This is a contractor role requiring a commitment of at least 6 hours per day and a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a mandatory 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST). The assignment is expected to last for 5 weeks, starting as early as next week. Compensation is task-based, with payment of $300 per approved task. Please note that this is a contractor position and does not include medical benefits or paid leave.
This opportunity is ideal for physical science professionals who are passionate about applying their expertise to advance AI capabilities through realistic scientific challenges. If you have a strong technical background and enjoy developing reproducible scientific workflows, this role offers a unique chance to contribute to frontier AI research in a flexible, project-based capacity.
