The Senior Account Officer will play a critical role within the Finance & Accounts department, reporting directly to the Admin Head. This position involves managing and maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries. Additionally, the role requires close collaboration with auditors and support for management through detailed financial analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and review general ledger accounts and accounting records to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in a timely manner.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, cash-flow statements, and other financial reports.
- Perform monthly closing activities, ensuring all accounts are balanced and accurate.
- Reconcile bank, customer, supplier, and inter-company accounts regularly.
- Review invoices, payments, receipts, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with tax calculations, filing tax returns, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors by providing necessary schedules and documentation.
- Monitor expenses and identify any discrepancies or unusual transactions.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure adherence to company accounting policies.
- Supervise and guide junior accountants, providing support on accounting procedures.
- Support management with financial analysis and preparation of decision-making reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reporting principles.
- Good understanding of taxation and statutory compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, and financial reporting tools.
- Experience working with accounting or ERP software systems.
- Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple accounting tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in audit, manufacturing, trading, import/export, or corporate accounting environments.
- Familiarity with IFRS and applicable local tax and accounting regulations.
- Prior experience supervising accounting staff.
