Senior AI Engineer

As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving AI-native engineering throughout the software development lifecycle. You will lead efforts to refine and evolve best practices, ensuring that our engineering processes remain efficient, innovative, and aligned with AI principles.

Key Responsibilities

- Platform Development: Design, build, and maintain one or more capabilities within the Backbase Mobile Platform, collaborating closely with Principal Engineers to deliver robust solutions.

- Engineering & Quality: Develop and enhance SDKs and libraries that transform Identity and Authentication for mobile banking. Write clean, maintainable Swift code to create scalable features that integrate seamlessly with other components. Utilize native Apple frameworks and the latest technologies, working alongside multidisciplinary squads to implement cutting-edge solutions. Uphold high engineering standards and proactively lead initiatives to improve code quality and development processes.

- Agile & CI/CD: Collaborate with QA teams to automate testing and achieve a minimum of 80% unit test coverage using XCTest and XCUITest. Embrace Agile methodologies to deliver complete, production-ready products. Integrate continuous integration and continuous deployment practices, preferably using tools such as Bitrise and GitHub Actions.

- AI-Native Mindset: Actively explore and apply AI tools and agentic frameworks, including code generation, test automation, and developer productivity enhancements. Promote AI adoption across engineering workflows and product features to drive innovation.

- Collaboration: Engage in all stages of product development—from gathering feedback and requirements to implementing features, writing tests and documentation, and supporting product adoption among colleagues, customers, and partners.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in native iOS development.

- Strong proficiency in Swift, with practical experience in Objective-C.

- Experience developing applications within FinTech, Banking, or Payments domains.

- Expertise in modern iOS architectural patterns such as MVVM, VIPER, or Clean Architecture, and familiarity with development frameworks including SwiftUI, UIKit, and Combine or RxSwift.

- Solid experience with concurrency and integration, including RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and asynchronous programming techniques like Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), async/await, and Combine.

- Deep understanding of mobile security best practices, including Keychain and biometric authentication.

- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.

- Passion for AI/ML technologies, with hands-on experience using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, and AI features in Xcode, and a desire to influence product and platform capabilities through AI.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- In-depth knowledge of mobile application security and data encryption standards.

- Experience with dependency managers such as Swift Package Manager (SPM) or CocoaPods.

- Familiarity with mobile analytics, A/B testing, and crash reporting tools like Firebase and Crashlytics.

- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.

- Published one or more iOS applications on the Apple App Store.
