Senior - AI Engineer

NorthBay is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our Islamabad-based team on a full-time, hybrid work arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in AI and advanced analytics, with a strong foundation in data processing, predictive modeling, and deploying production-grade AI systems. This role involves hands-on development and scaling of AI solutions that generate tangible business value. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into intelligent systems and actionable insights. Expertise in modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic workflows, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop a thorough understanding of business domains and customer data to inform AI solutions.
- Build predictive models and reporting systems that support strategic decision-making.
- Write efficient scripts and queries for data extraction, processing, and visualization.
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AI and machine learning solutions in production environments.
- Lead initiatives involving Generative AI (GenAI), including organizing, testing, and enhancing AI-driven systems.
- Develop and optimize agentic workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) based systems.
- Design and implement forecasting models aimed at significantly improving accuracy.
- Debug and improve AI systems, focusing on reducing hallucinations and enhancing reliability.
- Create evaluation frameworks to continuously assess and improve AI model performance.
- Research and integrate cutting-edge open-source AI models to stay ahead of technological advancements.
- Train and optimize models across various domains such as object detection, classification, optical character recognition (OCR), and statistical modeling.
- Build robust data pipelines and integration architectures to improve system performance and reduce latency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to effectively translate business needs into technical AI solutions.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or a related field from a reputable university.
- 4 to 6+ years of professional experience in technology roles.
- At least 2 to 3 years of focused experience in AI and machine learning.
- Strong expertise in data processing, structuring, and visualization techniques.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing predictive models.
- Proficiency in Python for production-grade AI development; experience with .NET is a plus.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with Vector Databases.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver AI solutions into production environments beyond experimental projects.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with agentic workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and prompt engineering.
- Capability to debug complex, non-deterministic AI systems.
- Experience implementing hallucination detection mechanisms in AI models.
- Strong understanding of evaluation frameworks for AI models and prompt performance.
