Senior C# Developer

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and delivery of features for a large, long-standing .NET desktop application. In this role, you will collaborate with other senior developers to take projects from initial briefs through to screen design, application coding, database enhancements, and query optimization, ensuring timely delivery. You will have full ownership of the features you build, including their behavior and performance in production. The use of AI coding tools is integrated into our workflow, but every change must be fully understood and owned by the developer who merges it.

Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of features from interaction design and screen development to business logic, data modeling, and query optimization, ensuring reliability for daily users.
- Design and implement user interfaces using Windows Forms and embedded HTML/CSS/JavaScript screens via Microsoft WebView2 within the desktop application.
- Develop and maintain production C# code, preserving existing functionality while fitting new features into the current architecture and improving code quality.
- Facilitate communication between the desktop host and embedded web screens, managing messaging between C# and JavaScript to keep UIs synchronized.
- Manage database-related tasks including schema design, index creation, writing safe migration scripts, and tuning queries and reports for performance under real data volumes.
- Create and maintain operational reports and exports, including grids, formatted documents, and spreadsheet outputs.
- Support background processing and coordinate releases across live customer environments.
- Utilize AI coding tools effectively by writing precise prompts, reviewing all code changes thoroughly, and ensuring only well-understood code is shipped.
- Introduce AI-driven features judiciously, maintaining clear data boundaries and protecting customer and personal data from exposure in prompts, logs, or third-party tools.
- Provide accurate estimates based on code review, prioritize work to deliver usable features early, and communicate risks promptly to adjust scope while meeting user needs.

Required Qualifications
- Strong, hands-on experience with C# and .NET in production environments.
- Proficiency in Windows Forms development, including designer-based screens, user controls, data-bound grids, and managing UI-thread behavior.
- Experience with Microsoft WebView2 for hosting and configuring embedded web content, including interoperation between C# and JavaScript, navigation, lifecycle, and security management.
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to design and build embedded web screens that are responsive and visually consistent with the desktop UI.
- Expertise in SQL Server, including schema and index design, interpreting execution plans, query tuning, and writing safe migration scripts.
- Proven track record as a senior engineer working on shipped desktop products with long-term maintenance of C# and SQL Server components.
- Ability to analyze poor execution plans, optimize queries without altering results, and design features encompassing UI, application logic, and database changes.
- Experience modernizing desktop applications by integrating web-based screens alongside existing Windows interfaces.
- Regular use of AI coding tools with disciplined review practices to ensure code quality and conformity to product standards.
- Commitment to delivering complete releases, including managing regressions, data fixes, and final user requirements before go-live.
- Strong security practices, ensuring credentials are excluded from source code and logs, and handling customer and personal data in compliance with regulations.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
