We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect and Engineer to join our Data Analytics team within the Finance Department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and managing enterprise data architecture, particularly in banking or financial services. This role demands a strong technical background in IBM Db2 Warehouse, data transformation, and modernization projects, coupled with proven leadership skills to guide technical teams and manage vendor relationships. The position is based at our Head Office in Karachi and offers an opportunity to lead critical initiatives that enhance data governance, security, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain enterprise data architecture, standards, and target-state architecture across data warehouses, lakes/lakehouses, and integration platforms.
- Lead Big Data transformation, data modernization, legacy system migration, and scalable ETL/ELT initiatives.
- Ensure optimal performance of IBM Db2 Warehouse (Db2W) environments, focusing on data governance, security, data quality, compliance, and reliability of analytical and reporting platforms.
- Manage and lead technical teams and vendors, driving technology evaluation, architecture governance, automation, cost optimization, and operational resilience.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or Software Engineering from an HEC-recognized institute/university.
- 8 to 12 years of experience in data architecture and engineering, including 3 to 5 years of hands-on expertise with IBM Db2/Db2W.
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and SQL.
- Experience working with Big Data technologies, data lakes/lakehouses, and data engineering principles.
- Deep understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and handling of banking data.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and vendor partnerships, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Qualification or certification in Islamic Finance will be considered an added advantage.
