Ciklum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its team full-time in Pakistan. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional development team working on the Service Delivery Transformation (SDT) Project. This initiative aims to evaluate and modernize existing technology across the tax lifecycle by analyzing current assets, assessing their functionality, and designing new technologies to replace outdated systems. The project focuses on creating an integrated enterprise perspective for deploying new technologies throughout the tax lifecycle processes, including Initiate, Manage and Close; Collect Data; Calculate Taxable Income; Allocations; Print K1s; Focused Experience; Extract; Prep Return and Reviews; Close; and Core.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy data solutions, advanced analytics, dashboards, and reports that provide critical business insights.
- Create and implement data models to support various business needs.
- Optimize reports and dashboards by improving query performance and ensuring efficient data model design.
- Contribute to design, coding, configuration, data ingestion, real-time and batch processing, and ETL workflows across multiple data storage platforms.
- Perform performance tuning on complex SQL and DAX queries.
- Identify gaps and enhance the platform’s quality, robustness, maintainability, and speed.
- Cross-train team members on new technologies and continuously learn from peers.
- Participate in unit activities, community building, conferences, and promote best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on software development experience.
- Strong expertise in Apache Spark, particularly with Databricks delivery.
- Proficiency in Python, including advanced data engineering skills using PySpark, Pandas, and related libraries.
- Experience in developing and maintaining unit tests for Databricks workloads.
- Solid understanding of columnar storage formats such as Parquet and practical experience with Delta Lake and Delta Tables.
- Proven ability to manage data volumes ranging from small to large, including performance tuning and optimization.
- Demonstrated skills in building data ingestion, transformation, and analytics pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
