TekMinds, an engineering and management consulting firm supporting US clients across various sectors, specializes in renewable energy and industrial products. We assist in the design and implementation of commercial, industrial, and community-scale renewable projects. Our services span pre-engineering, design, financial analysis, growth strategy, and asset management. With offices in Washington D.C., Karachi, and Lahore, we serve a global customer base. Currently, we are partnering with a leading US renewable energy firm to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer. This hybrid role, based in Karachi, involves working exclusively with the US firm to oversee electrical engineering aspects of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage (ESS) projects from development through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Electrical Owner’s Engineer on commercial, industrial, and utility-scale PV and ESS projects, independently managing and reviewing electrical engineering work throughout design, construction, commissioning, and asset management phases.
- Specify and review shop drawings, equipment data, single-line and three-line diagrams, site layouts, grounding studies, thermal ampacity studies, and related deliverables to ensure compliance, constructability, and alignment with project requirements.
- Perform or oversee electrical studies such as protection coordination, power flow, arc flash, step/touch grounding, PSCAD, PSSE, or equivalent analyses, with review by senior engineers as needed.
- Support project activities including utility coordination, responding to RFIs, equipment due diligence, factory and medium-voltage equipment test reviews, relay test report evaluations, and developing mitigation plans for project challenges.
- Manage third-party engineering scopes and coordinate with Owner’s Engineer (EOE), Engineer of Record (EEOR), EPC contractors, utilities, commissioning teams, and equipment vendors.
- Assist the Grid Integration engineering team with interconnection and utility coordination efforts.
- Apply engineering judgment and analytical tools to assess failure modes, design deviations, system performance, and mitigation strategies, communicating risks clearly and escalating issues promptly.
- Document assumptions, decisions, risks, and mitigation measures for cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with Project Engineering, Design, Civil, Commissioning, Supply Chain, Deployment teams, contractors, utilities, and external engineers.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on photovoltaic systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with ETAP, SKM, or AmpCalc modeling software; familiarity with AcSELerator and RDB generation tools.
- Strong knowledge of PV plant electrical design, medium-voltage distribution and collection systems, grounding and bonding, protection and coordination, relaying, equipment ratings, and relevant standards such as IEEE, NEC, NESC, and OSHA.
- Understanding of construction means and methods.
- Excellent communication skills to clearly convey technical information to diverse stakeholders, ask precise questions to clarify objectives, and translate ambiguous directions into actionable deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:
- Experience with PSSE, Aspen, or PSCAD modeling is advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment while maintaining professionalism and ethical conduct.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively within project teams.
- Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills applying electrical fundamentals, codes, and specialized software to complex projects.
- High attention to detail ensuring accuracy in calculations, drawings, and technical reviews, with appropriate use of peer review.
- Effective time management and accountability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines consistently.
- Sound judgment in managing ambiguity, proposing reasonable assumptions, seeking guidance when necessary, and escalating issues with sufficient context for decision-making.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to the development of renewable energy infrastructure while working with a dynamic team in a hybrid work environment.
