This full-time, on-site position based in Islamabad involves designing, developing, and optimizing low voltage embedded hardware systems centered on the STM32 microcontroller architecture. The role requires translating product requirements into detailed hardware specifications, creating schematics and PCB layouts, and working closely with embedded software engineers to ensure smooth integration and optimal system performance. The engineer will be responsible for component selection, power management design, signal integrity analysis, and system-level debugging of both prototypes and production units. Additionally, the role includes hardware validation and verification, root-cause analysis for field issues, and preparing comprehensive documentation for designs, test procedures, and manufacturing handover. Supporting continuous improvement of design standards, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with manufacturing and quality teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective hardware solutions are also key aspects of this position.

Key Responsibilities

- Translate product requirements into detailed hardware specifications, including schematics and PCB layouts for STM32-based embedded systems.
- Select components and design power management circuits, ensuring efficient and reliable low voltage operation.
- Perform signal integrity analysis and conduct system-level debugging on prototypes and production hardware.
- Conduct hardware validation and verification tests to ensure compliance with design and performance standards.
- Investigate and resolve hardware issues reported from the field through root-cause analysis.
- Prepare clear and detailed documentation covering design specifications, test procedures, and manufacturing handover.
- Collaborate closely with embedded software engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their technical growth within the team.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure hardware solutions are reliable, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for hardware design standards and processes.

Required Qualifications

- Strong expertise in embedded hardware design, specifically low voltage systems and STM32 microcontroller integration.
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using modern electronic design automation (EDA) tools.
- Solid knowledge of power electronics and power management, including voltage regulators, battery-powered designs, and protection circuitry.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, testing, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab instruments, with a focus on signal integrity and reliability.
- Thorough understanding of embedded systems architecture, digital and analog electronics, communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN, as well as sensor integration.
- Familiarity with embedded firmware development workflows and collaboration with software teams, including a basic understanding of C/C++ for hardware-software co-design.
- Awareness of industry standards, safety regulations, EMC/EMI considerations, and other regulatory requirements relevant to low voltage electronic products.
- Proven experience managing the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through prototyping, validation, production support, and iterative improvements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex hardware issues and implement effective design modifications.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working collaboratively in cross-functional, on-site teams and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field, with several years of relevant embedded hardware experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

While not explicitly listed, candidates with additional experience in advanced EMC/EMI mitigation techniques, familiarity with manufacturing processes, or prior leadership roles in hardware design teams will be highly regarded. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic engineering environment, contributing to cutting-edge embedded hardware products and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation and quality.
