Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

Nysonian is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to take full ownership of our internal systems, including production infrastructure, CRM, and automation/AI-agent tooling that supports our team’s workflows. This senior role demands high autonomy, where you will proactively identify issues, architect solutions, and lead their implementation. You will be the go-to engineer for critical production incidents, complex CRM data challenges, and opportunities to automate manual processes across the company. This position is full-time, based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with working hours from 6 PM to 2 AM PKT.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the architecture and long-term health of the internal CRM platform, managing unified inboxes, agent workflows, automation rules, and refund/RMA processes.
- Lead debugging and resolution of complex data and logic issues across CRM backend (NestJS) and databases (MongoDB/PostgreSQL).
- Drive feature development and technical decisions for internal tools requested by operations, support, and sales teams.
- Design conversation routing, agent assignment logic, bulk data operations, and integration syncs with platforms like Shopify and third-party APIs.
- Manage production infrastructure strategy on AWS (EC2, ALB, S3, Route53, IAM, VPC) and Linux environments (AlmaLinux/Ubuntu).
- Architect and maintain nginx reverse proxy configurations, SSL/TLS certificate management across multiple subdomains, and process management using PM2/systemd.
- Design networking architecture including firewalls, security groups, load balancer redirect logic, and DNS strategy.
- Lead database administration for PostgreSQL and MongoDB, focusing on access control, indexing, connection pooling, and security.
- Own incident response end-to-end: lead root cause analysis, containment, coordination of hardening efforts, and post-mortems.
- Architect and build MCP servers and internal integrations enabling AI agents to securely interact with CRM, databases, and internal systems.
- Set company-wide automation strategy, identifying AI-agent-driven workflows to eliminate manual operations.
- Develop robust automation scripts and internal tools using Bash, Python, or Node.js, establishing standards for automation development and maintenance.
- Design internal APIs and webhooks connecting CRM, WMS/ERP, and third-party platforms such as Shopify and ShipHero.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on infrastructure, debugging, and automation best practices.
- Collaborate with product, support, operations, and leadership teams to translate business challenges into technical roadmaps.
- Establish documentation standards, including technical runbooks and accessible guides for non-technical stakeholders.
- Own Git and deployment workflows, including branching models, PR review standards, repo migrations, and CI/CD direction.
- Serve as a technical escalation point during high-stakes incidents, including direct communication with clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum 4 years of experience building and maintaining backend systems, preferably with NestJS/Node.js, in production SaaS environments.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with AWS services including EC2, security groups, load balancers, IAM, and S3, with experience architecting solutions.
- Expert-level Linux server administration skills, recognized as the go-to person for production issues.
- Strong networking knowledge covering DNS, TLS/SSL, reverse proxies, firewalls, load balancer routing, and redirect chain debugging.
- Extensive experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, access control, and performance tuning.
- Proven track record in automation and scripting at scale using Bash, Python, or Node.js, with a focus on building maintainable systems.
- Hands-on experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or demonstrated ability to quickly learn AI-agent tooling and integrations.
- Experience owning or architecting CRM systems or similarly complex internal platforms.
- History of leading incident response efforts for production systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting technical standards.
- Ability to independently own full-stack problems, acting as backend engineer, DevOps engineer, and automation engineer as needed.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms such as CRM, ERP, or WMS.
- Familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce platform integrations, including OAuth, webhooks, and GraphQL APIs.
- Knowledge of Redis/BullMQ for queue-based processing.
- Experience with Claude/Anthropic API, large language model tool-calling, or agentic workflows.
- Docker and Kubernetes experience, particularly in formalizing CI/CD pipelines in organizations without prior infrastructure.
- Background in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or early-stage startup environments.
