Senior Golang Developer

A Europe-based IT firm specializing in software architecture and scalable engineering is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their Video Platform team within an OTT business vertical. This role involves building and scaling a video content platform that serves over 100 million users with nearly 1 billion views. The successful candidate will contribute to developing reliable, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that support video delivery, partner integrations, and publishing workflows. This senior-level position requires strong backend engineering skills, architectural insight, and hands-on production experience. While 6–10 years of experience is preferred, candidates with less experience but strong technical fundamentals and maturity are encouraged to apply. The role is fully remote and based in Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Go (Golang) and Node.js within a microservices architecture.
- Build REST APIs and event-driven services leveraging AWS EventBridge, SQS, and RabbitMQ.
- Write clean, maintainable, high-performance, and well-tested code adhering to SOLID principles.
- Participate in system design discussions and evolve service architecture using serverless and event-driven patterns.
- Ensure production systems are highly available, scalable, performant, and fault-tolerant.
- Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Redshift based on service requirements.
- Deploy and operate services using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) on AWS.
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions for building and testing, and ArgoCD for deployments.
- Utilize observability tools like Honeycomb, Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch to monitor, debug, and optimize system behavior.
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams to improve infrastructure, deployment workflows, and operational practices using Terraform and GitOps patterns.
- Engage in a collaborative engineering culture with practices such as pair programming, mob programming, YAGNI, and Test-Driven Development.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide production support.
- Share knowledge and contribute to backend engineering efforts across the organization.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) and working knowledge of Node.js.
- Experience designing and building distributed microservices and API-driven backend systems.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Solid experience with databases including PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and/or Redshift.
- Proven experience working with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes (EKS) in production environments.
- Familiarity with Docker for containerized service development and deployment.
- Experience using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, specifically GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
- Skilled in operating and debugging backend systems using observability tools such as Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
- Understanding of system reliability principles including fault tolerance, monitoring, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Extreme Programming (XP) practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, ownership mindset, and intellectual curiosity.
- Interest in emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, NLP, and AI.

- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM
