Senior Golang Engineer

Emumba is seeking a Senior Golang Engineer to play a pivotal role in architecting and scaling the core of modern, high-performance systems. This position involves more than just API development; it requires building resilient, observable, and scalable production-grade services from the ground up. The successful candidate will work closely with product and infrastructure teams to influence technical direction, elevate engineering standards, and provide mentorship. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working near the runtime, has a deep understanding of concurrency, and thrives on solving complex distributed systems challenges.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable, production-ready Go services and APIs, owning features end-to-end from architecture through deployment and monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine the technical roadmap and ensure alignment with product goals.
- Optimize system performance, scalability, and fault tolerance to maintain high reliability.
- Enhance observability by implementing structured logging, tracing, and metrics.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex concurrency and distributed system issues.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to uphold high engineering standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a strong technical culture within the team.
- Continuously improve deployment pipelines and operational best practices.
- Work with technologies such as gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and Go profiling/tracing tools including pprof, go trace, and race detector.
- Operate and maintain large-scale distributed systems in production environments.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused extensively on Go.
- Deep knowledge of Go internals, including goroutines, channels, scheduler behavior, synchronization primitives, and the context package.
- Strong expertise in Go concurrency patterns and performance optimization techniques.
- Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, and system design.
- Working understanding of operating system concepts as they relate to runtime behavior.
- Comprehensive grasp of distributed systems principles, including CAP theorem, consistency models, consensus algorithms, and fault tolerance.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as message queue systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse groups.
