Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) is seeking a Senior HSE Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental standards across the organization. This position requires a proactive professional who can develop, monitor, and enforce HSE policies to promote a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior HSE Officer will work closely with various departments to identify risks, conduct inspections, and lead training initiatives aimed at minimizing workplace hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies and procedures in line with company standards and legal regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Lead and coordinate HSE training programs to enhance employee awareness and competence regarding safety practices.
- Monitor environmental compliance and manage waste disposal processes to minimize environmental impact.
- Collaborate with project teams and contractors to ensure adherence to HSE requirements throughout project lifecycles.
- Maintain accurate records of HSE activities, incidents, and compliance reports for internal and external audits.
- Stay updated with changes in HSE legislation and industry best practices, advising management on necessary adjustments.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in health, safety, and environmental management, preferably within the industrial or corporate sector.
- Strong knowledge of local and international HSE laws, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and influence staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in preparing detailed reports and maintaining HSE documentation.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a government or large-scale corporate environment will be an advantage.
