The university invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor in Adult Cardiac Surgery. This full-time faculty role offers opportunities for clinical leadership, academic advancement, and collaborative practice within a dynamic and expanding program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide independent consultant-level surgical services in adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valvular, aortic, and other complex adult cardiac procedures.
- Undertake teaching, mentorship, supervision, and training of medical students, residents, and fellows at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Contribute actively to clinical research, scholarly publications, presentations, and other academic activities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) planning and collaborative management of complex cardiac patients, including involvement in cardiac conferences and perioperative decision-making.
- Engage in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and initiatives aimed at quality improvement and patient safety within adult cardiac surgery.
- Support the development and enhancement of adult cardiac surgical services through evidence-based clinical protocols and pathways.
Required Qualifications:
- For Senior Instructor: Minimum of 2 years post-fellowship (FCPS) experience in Cardiac Surgery, with demonstrated scholarship through research, publications, and/or educational contributions.
- For Assistant Professor: At least 2 years’ experience as a Senior Instructor, with evidence of scholarly activity in research, publications, and/or education.
- Fellowship or certification such as FCPS, FRCS, American Board, or equivalent, with completed postgraduate training from a recognized cardiac surgery program.
- Significant independent consultant-level experience in adult cardiac surgery, demonstrating expertise across a broad range of procedures including coronary, valvular, and other complex surgeries.
- Experience in assessment, perioperative management, and surgical care of adult cardiac patients, including complex and high-risk cases.
- Active participation in regular clinical audits.
- Supervisory experience in guiding junior staff research.
