Senior iOS Engineer

As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the AI-native engineering of our product throughout the software development lifecycle. You will lead efforts to refine best practices, ensuring they remain efficient, innovative, and aligned with AI principles.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain one or more capabilities within the Backbase Mobile Platform, collaborating closely with Principal Engineers.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary squad responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions, from concept through to production-ready applications.
- Translate complex business requirements into technical designs and high-quality, maintainable software that performs efficiently.
- Develop and enhance SDKs and libraries focused on revolutionizing Identity and Authentication for mobile banking.
- Write clean, scalable Swift code using native Apple frameworks and cutting-edge technologies, while collaborating with other mobile squads to adopt the latest development approaches.
- Uphold and improve engineering standards across the product by proactively proposing and leading initiatives within your squad.
- Automate testing in partnership with QA teams to achieve a minimum of 80% unit test coverage using XCTest and XCUITest frameworks.
- Embrace Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices, ideally leveraging tools such as Bitrise and GitHub Actions, to deliver complete, high-quality products.
- Demonstrate an AI-native mindset by exploring and applying AI tools and agentic frameworks (e.g., code generation, test automation) to enhance engineering workflows and product capabilities.
- Contribute to all phases of product development, including gathering feedback, implementing functionality, writing tests and documentation, and supporting product adoption among colleagues, customers, and partners.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in native iOS development.
- Strong proficiency in Swift, with practical experience in Objective-C.
- Experience developing applications within the FinTech, Banking, or Payments sectors.
- Expertise in modern iOS architectural patterns such as MVVM, VIPER, or Clean Architecture, and familiarity with frameworks like SwiftUI, UIKit, and Combine or RxSwift.
- Solid knowledge of concurrency and asynchronous programming techniques, including Grand Central Dispatch (GCD), async/await, and Combine.
- Strong understanding of mobile security best practices, including Keychain and biometric authentication.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Passion for AI/ML tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor AI, and AI-enhanced Xcode, with enthusiasm for integrating AI into product and platform functionality.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Deep knowledge of mobile application security and data encryption standards.
- Experience with dependency managers such as Swift Package Manager (SPM) or CocoaPods.
- Familiarity with mobile analytics, A/B testing, and crash reporting tools like Firebase and Crashlytics.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Track record of publishing one or more iOS applications on the Apple App Store.
