Senior Java Software Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Backend Engineer with 8 to 10 years of experience in developing scalable and high-performance backend systems using Java and Python. This role requires a blend of deep technical knowledge and leadership capabilities, focusing on designing robust system architectures, mentoring engineering teams, and ensuring reliability and scalability of backend services. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a remote or hybrid setup based in Pakistan and will play a key role in driving the backend engineering efforts across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices architectures.
- Lead system architecture decisions to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Build and optimize distributed systems capable of handling large-scale workloads.
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate them with internal and external systems.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices.
- Drive continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), DevOps practices, and automation to improve delivery cycles.
- Monitor, debug, and optimize backend systems for performance and availability.
- Define and enforce technical standards, architecture patterns, and development processes.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java, particularly with Spring Boot framework, and Python using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed systems design.
- Extensive experience designing REST APIs and building scalable backend systems.
- Solid knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills
- Experience working with event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SQS.
- Exposure to high-concurrency and real-time application development.
- Familiarity with security best practices, including API authentication mechanisms such as OAuth and JWT.
- Experience or interest in integrating AI/ML components or data pipelines into backend systems.
