This role serves as the lead legal counsel for intellectual property and corporate governance matters at JazzWorld and its group entities. The incumbent will protect and enforce the company’s brands and creative assets, managing the trademark portfolio, handling contentious IP issues, reviewing IP terms in commercial contracts, and conducting legal reviews of advertising before publication. Additionally, the role supports corporate governance by preparing board documentation, ensuring statutory compliance, and overseeing subsidiary governance. Close collaboration with Marketing, Brand, Digital, and Procurement teams is essential, along with managing external counsel for IP filings and litigation. The position reports directly to the Head of Corporate Governance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end management of the company’s trademark and copyright portfolio.
- Oversee the company-wide rebranding process, coordinating with external counsel to protect and transition IP assets.
- Manage active IP litigation before Intellectual Property Tribunals, developing case strategies for high-stakes disputes.
- Initiate actions against infringement and unauthorized use of company brands.
- Review advertising and marketing claims for legal and regulatory risks prior to publication.
- Provide legal advice to Marketing and Brand teams on campaigns, promotions, and third-party content usage.
- Draft and review intellectual property provisions in commercial agreements.
- Instruct and manage external IP counsel on filings, renewals, and disputes.
- Lead corporate governance activities, including preparation of board-level documentation for Board, committee, and general meetings.
- Handle statutory filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and maintain statutory registers for the company and its subsidiaries.
- Manage subsidiary governance matters such as restructurings, board reconstitutions, and group approvals.
- Maintain templates, trackers, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) used across IP and governance functions.

Required Qualifications:
- LLB, LLM, or Bar at Law degree with 5-7 years of experience in an in-house legal team or law firm/chamber, with significant exposure to intellectual property matters.
- Strong hands-on experience in trademark prosecution and portfolio management, preferably for a consumer brand with a large multi-class portfolio.
- Proven experience managing contentious IP matters, including oppositions and tribunal litigation, and overseeing external counsel.
- Solid knowledge of the Trade Marks Ordinance, 2001; Copyright Ordinance, 1962; and Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan Act, 2012.
- Familiarity with advertising and consumer protection regulations, including deceptive marketing provisions under the Competition Act, 2010.
- Experience with board processes, SECP filings, and governance documentation.
- Strong drafting skills with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Ability to provide practical legal solutions that deliver tangible business value, often within short campaign timelines.
- Excellent analytical, research, critical thinking, communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Prior experience working within a large corporate group, listed company, or regulated environment is highly desirable. Knowledge of telecommunication laws is a plus.
