The Senior Legal Manager position is a full-time, on-site role based in Karachi. This role is responsible for managing all legal aspects related to UMA’s shipping, logistics, and corporate operations. The incumbent will draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements while ensuring compliance with both local and international laws. Providing sound legal advice to management on operational and strategic matters is a key part of this role. The Senior Legal Manager will also oversee regulatory filings, manage disputes and litigation in collaboration with external counsel, and stay current with maritime, commercial, and labor law developments relevant to the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including contracts, agreements, and internal policies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local and international laws and regulations affecting shipping, logistics, and corporate activities.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management on operational, commercial, and regulatory issues.
- Manage legal disputes, coordinate with external legal advisors, and oversee litigation processes.
- Conduct legal risk assessments and develop internal policies to mitigate potential risks.
- Lead training programs to educate teams on compliance and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support business growth while protecting the company’s legal interests.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime, commercial, and labor laws relevant to the company’s operations.
- Handle regulatory filings and ensure timely submissions to relevant authorities.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law from a recognized institution.
- Extensive experience in a senior legal role, preferably within the shipping, logistics, or related industries.
- Strong expertise in corporate, commercial, and maritime law.
- Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents.
- Demonstrated experience in providing legal consulting and strategic advice to leadership teams.
- In-depth understanding of legal compliance, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and internal controls.
- Track record of managing legal affairs including disputes, litigation, and regulatory interactions.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
