We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineer to lead the design, standardization, automation, and optimization of enterprise-wide Linux platforms. This role is hands-on and engineering-focused, aimed at building reusable solutions and capabilities that support Linux Operations and Infrastructure teams. The position emphasizes strategic platform development rather than routine system administration tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain enterprise-wide Linux platform standards and automated build solutions.
- Develop standardized OS and container golden images for bare-metal, VMware, OpenShift, and cloud environments.
- Manage and enhance Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, PXE, DHCP, and Redfish for automated provisioning.
- Engineer and optimize RHEL platforms, focusing on kernel, CPU, memory, I/O, and network/TCP performance.
- Define and implement Linux security, hardening, configuration, and compliance standards.
- Develop monitoring and observability solutions for Linux OS and Dell/HPE server infrastructure, integrating with tools such as Splunk, ELK, SIEM, and AppDynamics.
- Automate patching, firmware updates, configuration management, monitoring, and compliance using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
- Develop AI-driven solutions to enhance Linux engineering and business-as-usual operations.
- Support Linux platforms across OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
- Serve as a Level 3 escalation point for critical incidents and lead root cause analysis efforts.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and BAU teams to establish future-state Linux standards.
- Work closely with technology vendors and service partners to drive platform improvements and roadmap initiatives.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for critical incident response.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Over 12 years of experience in Enterprise Linux, including a minimum of 5 years in Senior Linux Administration and 5 years in Linux Engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with RHEL versions 6 and above.
- Extensive experience with Red Hat Satellite Server, preferably including Kickstart.
- In-depth knowledge of PXE, DHCP, Redfish, and automated OS provisioning techniques.
- Proven ability to create standardized OS and container images across on-premises, VMware, OpenShift, and cloud platforms.
- Strong expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and practical experience with Kubernetes in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting tools such as Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer, and familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps technologies.
- Solid understanding of DNS, NFS, NTP, SNMP, SMTP, Active Directory, TCP/IP, and Ethernet protocols.
- Advanced Linux troubleshooting skills, including kernel analysis, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Experience working with enterprise monitoring, logging, and SIEM solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Linux security hardening and configuration management.
- RHCE certification is mandatory; RHCA certification is a plus.
