We are looking for a seasoned Senior Manager – Accounts & Finance to lead and manage the accounting and financial functions of a multi-location U.S. business. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing processes, budgeting, and maintaining strong financial controls. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in handling complex financial activities across multiple sites, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage day-to-day accounting and finance operations across multiple locations, ensuring smooth and accurate financial workflows. Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries to maintain precise financial records. Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, guaranteeing timely and accurate financial reporting.
Review store sales, cash deposits, credit card settlements, fuel sales, and related reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy. Monitor expenses related to property, utilities, rent, vendors, and operations, investigating any variances or discrepancies. Prepare comprehensive financial statements including profit and loss reports, balance sheets, cash flow reports, management reports, and detailed financial analyses.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and overall financial planning to support business objectives. Ensure strict compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures to safeguard company assets. Collaborate closely with Treasury, Accounts Payable, Operations, Property Management, and external stakeholders to maintain cohesive financial operations.
Support audit, tax, compliance, and year-end financial requirements by coordinating necessary documentation and processes. Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance controls, increase reporting accuracy, and boost operational efficiency. Lead and develop the accounting and finance team, ensuring timely completion of all deliverables and fostering a high-performance culture.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is essential. Professional certifications such as CA, ACCA, CMA, or an MBA are highly preferred. Candidates should have 8 to 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles.
Demonstrated experience working with U.S.-based businesses, particularly in multi-location retail environments such as gas stations, convenience stores, or similar operations, is strongly preferred. A solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting standards, reconciliations, month-end close procedures, budgeting, and internal controls is required.
Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, along with experience using ERP or accounting systems, is necessary. Strong analytical abilities, leadership skills, effective communication, and problem-solving capabilities are critical for success in this role. Experience managing teams and handling multiple financial processes simultaneously is expected.
