This role involves the installation, configuration, deployment, administration, and monitoring of IBM API Connect across both cloud environments and on-premises virtual machines. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, performance, and availability of APIs within the IBM API Connect ecosystem. This includes proactive monitoring, incident management, and root cause analysis to quickly resolve any issues that arise. The position requires hands-on experience with backup and restoration processes, as well as maintaining the CI/CD pipeline for API deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, deploy, administer, and monitor IBM API Connect in cloud and on-premises VMs.
- Continuously monitor the health and performance of the IBM API Connect environment to ensure API availability.
- Lead or participate in incident resolution calls to assist with root cause analysis and timely issue resolution.
- Analyze system and application logs to identify and troubleshoot problems within the IBM API Connect environment.
- Configure and manage backup and restoration procedures for IBM API Connect subsystems and configuration data.
- Maintain and optimize the CI/CD pipeline for building and deploying APIs.
- Manage API lifecycle using the API Management Portal across multiple API catalogs.
- Perform consumer maintenance tasks including creation of users, groups, roles, and security configurations.
- Customize the IBM API Connect Developer Portal by modifying administrative settings, Drupal themes, and portal content to improve user experience.
- Integrate third-party tools such as Elastic to capture analytics events for customer dashboards.
- Utilize advanced Splunk expertise to construct search queries, monitor system health, and set up alerts for failures.
- Configure security settings using TLS profiles and native OAuth2 mechanisms to maintain a secure operating environment.
- Apply product maintenance patches, interim releases, and upgrades as necessary.
- Provide technical architecture support, assist in discovery sessions, and respond to architecture, infrastructure, and security-related inquiries.
- Understand hardware specifications, networking requirements, and storage sizing relevant to IBM API Connect deployments.
- Collaborate with IBM Technical Support and IBM Technical Sales teams to resolve technical issues and clarify product-related questions.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience with IBM API Connect installation, configuration, and administration in both cloud and on-premises environments.
- Strong knowledge of API lifecycle management and CI/CD pipeline maintenance.
- Proficiency in log analysis and troubleshooting within API management platforms.
- Experience with backup and restoration of API Connect subsystems and configuration data.
- Familiarity with security protocols including TLS profiles and OAuth2 for API security.
- Expertise in using Splunk for advanced search queries, monitoring, and alerting.
- Ability to customize and manage the IBM API Connect Developer Portal, including Drupal theme modifications.
- Solid understanding of networking, hardware specifications, and storage requirements for API management solutions.
- Effective communication skills to engage with technical support and sales teams.
