The Senior Medical Billing Specialist role is a full-time, on-site position located in Karachi. This position is responsible for managing the entire medical billing and reimbursement process for U.S.-based healthcare clients. The specialist will handle claim review and submission, denial management, appeals, and accurate coding using ICD-10 and payer-specific guidelines. Key duties include verifying insurance coverage, coordinating with payers such as Medicare and commercial insurers, and monitoring accounts receivable to ensure timely payment posting and follow-up. The role also involves analyzing billing trends, identifying revenue enhancement opportunities, training junior billing staff, and collaborating with internal teams to maintain compliance, documentation accuracy, and service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee end-to-end medical billing and reimbursement activities for U.S. healthcare providers.
- Review and submit claims while ensuring compliance with ICD-10 coding and payer-specific requirements.
- Manage denial workflows, including root-cause analysis, appeals, and resolution strategies.
- Verify insurance coverage and coordinate with Medicare and commercial payers.
- Monitor accounts receivable to ensure timely payment posting and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Analyze billing trends and identify opportunities to optimize revenue.
- Train and mentor junior billing staff to enhance team capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold compliance standards and documentation accuracy.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation relevant to billing and coding.
- Hands-on experience with denial management, including appeals and resolution techniques.
- Solid understanding of ICD-10 coding and its application in claims processing and reimbursement.
- In-depth familiarity with insurance processes, including commercial payers, prior authorizations, and policy requirements.
- Expertise in Medicare regulations, billing rules, and compliance standards.
- Several years of progressive experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management, preferably supporting U.S. healthcare providers.
- Proficiency with medical billing software, practice management systems, and basic data analysis tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work on-site in Karachi and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Capability to mentor and guide junior staff members.
- Relevant educational background in healthcare administration, finance, or related fields. Professional certifications in medical billing or coding are advantageous.
