The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of the organization's network infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, optimal performance, and secure connectivity across LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, and internet services. The engineer will also provide technical support and troubleshoot network-related issues to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security to ensure smooth functioning.
- Troubleshoot network outages, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks promptly.
- Configure and manage LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, VLANs, and internet connectivity.
- Administer firewalls, IDS/IPS, and enforce network security policies.
- Manage IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and network segmentation.
- Implement and maintain network monitoring and alerting tools.
- Perform firmware upgrades, patches, and preventive maintenance on network devices.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, topology diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for connectivity issues and technical support.
- Ensure backup and recovery processes for network device configurations are in place.
- Support business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives related to network infrastructure.
- Assist in planning and executing network expansion and infrastructure upgrades.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for complex network incidents.
- Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and security standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in network administration and support.
- Experience managing enterprise network environments is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Cisco, HPE, Juniper, or MikroTik networking equipment.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols including OSPF, BGP, STP, and VLANs.
- In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
- Experience with VPN technologies such as IPSec and SSL VPN.
- Firewall administration skills with platforms like Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or Sophos.
- Familiarity with wireless networking standards, including Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6.
- Experience using network monitoring tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, Zabbix, or Nagios.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux networking.
- Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory fundamentals.
- Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash are an advantage.
