Senior Network & Security Engineer

Megaplus Pakistan is seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, security, and maintenance of the company’s network and IT infrastructure. This role involves being the technical owner of network availability, perimeter and endpoint security, and incident response. The successful candidate will also mentor junior IT staff and collaborate across departments to ensure robust and secure IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

Network Engineering:
Design, deploy, and maintain LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and site-to-site connectivity across multiple offices and data centers. Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, including VLANs and routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, and static routing. Ensure high availability and monitor network performance and capacity. Troubleshoot outages and conduct root cause analysis. Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration backups, and documentation.

Security:
Manage firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, web and email security, and endpoint protection solutions (EDR/XDR). Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage patching cycles, driving remediation efforts. Operate and fine-tune SIEM and log monitoring tools, triaging and investigating security incidents promptly. Implement access control measures, network segmentation, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure remote access. Support compliance and audit activities, including ISO 27001 standards, internal policies, and vendor/client security requirements. Contribute to the development of security policies, incident response plans, and business continuity/disaster recovery strategies.

Infrastructure and Collaboration:
Support server environments, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud connectivity/security (AWS/Azure). Evaluate vendors and solutions, managing relationships with vendors and ISPs regarding SLAs and escalations. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with other departments on IT projects and requirements. Provide on-call support for critical incidents to ensure minimal downtime.

Required Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:
6 to 10 years of experience in network and security engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead hands-on role.

Technical Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco or Juniper switching and routing, and enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet, Palo Alto, or Sophos. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), VPNs (IPsec/SSL), Quality of Service (QoS), and wireless networking. Experience with SIEM and EDR tools, vulnerability scanning, and incident response processes. Familiarity with virtualization technologies, Active Directory, and cloud networking/security. Knowledge of ISO 27001 and security best practices is essential.

Certifications:
At least one relevant certification is required, such as CCNP or CCNA with strong practical experience, Fortinet NSE 4 or higher, Palo Alto PCNSA, CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, or an equivalent credential.

Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent documentation and communication skills, a sense of ownership, and the capability to perform well under pressure.

Megaplus offers a competitive salary range from Rs71,000 to Rs290,000 per month, along with benefits including medical coverage and a provident fund.
