Senior Platform Engineer

SenecaGlobal IT Services Private Limited is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join its Platform Engineering team in Hyderabad. This role involves building and maintaining foundational services, tools, and workflows that enable application teams to deliver software efficiently and reliably. The position requires a balanced skill set of 50% software development and 50% DevOps. The platform is primarily built on Azure, Azure DevOps pipelines, .NET, SQL, and Angular. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the full technology stack, be capable of making architectural decisions independently, and re-architect existing systems without heavy reliance on the development team.

Key Responsibilities
- Independently re-architect existing systems or codebases using transition architecture principles.
- Lead the incremental decomposition of monolithic applications into microservices, defining service boundaries, data contracts, and migration sequencing.
- Design, implement, monitor, and debug .NET/C# backend services throughout their lifecycle with production observability.
- Develop and extend Entity Framework services, managing schema migrations, query optimization, and ORM configurations across SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Author, review, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Azure Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
- Build and maintain containerization and orchestration solutions using Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Design event-driven integrations using Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or Event Grid as needed.
- Establish and maintain observability and monitoring solutions, including tools like New Relic.
- Convert monolithic applications to microservices by performing necessary code changes, containerizing, and deploying to the cloud with full network setup independently.

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong background in backend and platform engineering.
- Expertise in production-scale Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM, or Pulumi.
- Proficient in .NET and C# development, building and operating production backend services.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and monolith-to-microservices decomposition.
- Skilled in Entity Framework/EF Core, including migrations and query optimization.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including query writing, schema design, and performance tuning.
- Experience in Azure DevOps CI/CD, building and maintaining pipelines from scratch.
- Familiarity with specification-driven development, designing APIs and services by contract before implementation.
- Regular use of AI development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or Cursor.
- Ability to independently re-architect existing systems without relying on the current development team for context.
- Proficient with version control, testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows, and end-to-end ownership of deliverables.
- Experience working with multinational, cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps CI/CD (Bicep), New Relic, .NET, C#, Angular, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Playwright.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures using Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or Event Grid, including migration planning and consumer design.
- Familiarity with authentication migration using Azure B2C, Entra ID, and OIDC/OAuth2.
- Expertise in scalable, versioned, contract-first APIs.
- Understanding of RBAC, granular permissions, and enterprise security models.
- Experience with transition architecture and ensuring safe coexistence of legacy and modernized systems.
- Strong skills in containerization (Docker/AKS), SonarQube, Azure cloud, and observability/monitoring tools.
- Good to have experience in specification-driven development, event-driven architecture, authentication migration, Angular, and Playwright for end-to-end testing.

Experience & Qualifications
- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields (BTech/BE/MTech/MS/MCA).
