The role focuses on driving the growth of Islamic Banking products and services at Mashreq Bank Pakistan by working closely with the Head of Islamic Banking. The incumbent will ensure the delivery of fully digital-enabled customer journeys across all digital business verticals, including NEO and NEOBIZ, covering both deposits and asset products. This position involves launching and managing competitive Islamic propositions aligned with client needs while maintaining compliance with Shariah, legal, and regulatory requirements. The role demands collaboration with various internal teams such as technology, operations, and compliance to ensure seamless product rollout and ongoing management.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Islamic Banking to expand the Islamic Banking business and product suite, ensuring digital journeys are integrated across all relevant business lines and platforms.
- Lead the launch and management of Islamic propositions and products, ensuring offerings remain competitive and aligned with customer expectations.
- Liaise with Shariah Compliance, Legal, and Compliance teams to secure all necessary approvals prior to product launches.
- Oversee end-to-end Modaraba Pool Management, including pool creation, system configurations, weightage calculations, and profit rate declarations, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Manage internal and external audits and reviews related to profit payouts and pool management.
- Work closely with technology squads, operations, and other stakeholders to implement Islamic front-end digital journeys and backend infrastructure, ensuring smooth product launches and ongoing operations.
- Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for all technology upgrades, fixes, and new product launches in collaboration with Tech and Operations teams.
- Ensure Shariah Governance, Legal, and Compliance clearances are obtained and maintain controls, Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), and regulatory checks for existing and new products.
- Develop detailed product Documentation of Instructions (DOIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to finalize Islamic product agreements.
- Support the implementation of policies, procedures, and manuals in accordance with State Bank of Pakistan regulations and internal policy standards.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in product management, operations, and controls within a leading bank offering Islamic banking products.
- Strong knowledge of core banking systems and associated technologies, with the ability to collaborate effectively with digital squads.
- Deep understanding of Shariah Governance principles and a proven track record of working closely with support and product units to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead critical initiatives, coordinating across multiple product teams while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with a strong sense of accountability for end-user requirements.
- Commercially oriented with effective people management capabilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of marketing mix elements, particularly in product execution and backend support.
- A business degree or an equivalent professional qualification.
