Senior QA Automation Engineer

PackageX develops a Physical Logistics Execution Platform designed for enterprise teams operating in manufacturing sites, distribution centers, warehouses, retail locations, and other logistics-intensive environments. The platform integrates Vision AI, workflow automation, mobile execution, and system integrations to help companies digitize, execute, and verify physical operations at the point of work, providing reliable evidence of actual events. The core operating model focuses on execution, verification, and evidence to ensure seamless logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks for the React Native mobile app using WebdriverIO and Appium with Mocha, the web platform with Playwright, and APIs and SDKs using Vitest.
- Develop and maintain Playwright web automation, including managing test execution through MCP servers to enhance test creation and maintenance efficiency.
- Own failure triage, flaky-test detection, and coverage analysis, resolving issues proactively rather than suppressing test failures.
- Build and sustain SDK test coverage through integration harnesses, sample applications, contract tests, and cross-version regression suites.
- Integrate all test suites into CI/CD pipelines to ensure regressions are detected on every pull request and build, providing clear reporting and traceability via Allure, JUnit, and Testmo.
- Conduct exploratory and manual testing on real Android and iOS devices, including rugged handhelds and scanners used by customers.
- Test Vision AI features under real-world conditions such as poor lighting, damaged labels, angled shots, and low-end devices.
- Validate offline behavior, data synchronization, and recovery processes when connectivity is interrupted during workflows.
- Reproduce and isolate issues reported from customer sites, delivering detailed reproductions with steps, logs, and screenshots to engineers.
- Engage early in requirements and design discussions to identify gaps and untestable logic, advocating for improved testability through test IDs, mocks, seeded data, and environment parity.
- Provide evidence-based go/no-go recommendations for every release and monitor key quality metrics including defect leakage, coverage, flaky-test rates, and escaped bugs.
- Manage test data, test environments, and the device lab to maintain healthy test suites and reasonable execution times.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in QA engineering with a primary focus on test automation.
- Proven experience building or significantly extending automation frameworks, not just adding test cases.
- Deep expertise with Playwright, including driving tests through MCP servers.
- Hands-on experience with mobile automation using WebdriverIO and Appium for React Native or native apps.
- Proficient in writing reliable JavaScript/TypeScript code trusted by engineering teams.
- Experience writing API, integration, or component tests with Vitest or Jest.
- Familiarity with integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Bitrise.
- Strong discipline in manual and exploratory testing, including test planning, edge case analysis, and structured exploratory sessions.
- Experience testing on physical Android and iOS devices across multiple OS versions and hardware tiers.
- Comfortable using API tools, analyzing logs, and performing basic SQL queries to investigate issues beyond the UI.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and customer-facing teams.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and confidently recommend release readiness based on evidence.
- Proactive in creating structure and clarity in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience testing SDKs or developer-facing products.
- Familiarity with Allure reporting and test management tools such as Testmo or TestRail.
- Background in testing camera-driven features, barcode scanning, OCR, or machine learning/Vision AI outputs.
- Knowledge of performance and load testing tools like k6, JMeter, or Gatling.
- Previous work experience in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, warehousing, or other operations-heavy industries.
