Senior Software Engineer (IC3 - Backend)

Key Responsibilities

- Platform Implementation & Migrations: Lead the technical integration of Wise products with modernized Identity, Account, and Risk APIs. Facilitate critical migrations by deprecating legacy systems and enhancing integrations with Financial Crime domains, enabling product and FinCrime teams to operate efficiently.

- High-Performance Infrastructure: Design, develop, and optimize low-latency, high-availability microservices to support real-time transactions. Aim to achieve sub-second risk check speeds to ensure seamless customer experiences.

- Data Lineage & Governance: Establish and maintain robust data schemas, contracts, and immutable data flows that guarantee full auditability and consistency throughout the customer and transaction lifecycle.

- Operational Excellence: Ensure the operational health of essential platform components by managing SLAs/SLOs, monitoring, and alerting systems. Participate actively in incident resolution and post-mortem analyses to maintain zero downtime for money transfers.

- Global Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, FinCrime, and Risk Assessment, as well as engineering colleagues across Wise’s offices in London, Tallinn, and Hyderabad.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in backend engineering, particularly with scalable, high-throughput systems.

- Strong expertise in building and maintaining microservices architectures with a focus on performance and reliability.

- Solid understanding of data governance principles, including schema design and data auditability.

- Experience with real-time APIs and system migrations in a complex, regulated environment.

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional, and international team setting.
