Senior Software Engineer - Node.js

We are seeking a skilled full-stack software engineer to architect, build, and scale web applications using modern technologies such as Node.js, Express/NestJS, MongoDB, React/Next.js, and Angular. The ideal candidate will lead feature development from initial design and estimation through deployment and ongoing production support. This role involves close collaboration with product and platform teams to design and own RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, while ensuring seamless integration and high-quality user experiences. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining shared component libraries and design systems, translating Figma designs into pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect, develop, and scale full-stack web applications using Node.js, Express or NestJS, MongoDB, React/Next.js, and Angular frameworks.
- Lead end-to-end feature development including technical design, estimation, deployment, and production support.
- Design and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including BFF layers, collaborating with product and platform teams to define API contracts.
- Build and maintain shared component libraries and design systems using tools like Tailwind CSS and Storybook, ensuring UI fidelity and accessibility.
- Deploy and operate services on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure using Docker, Kubernetes, serverless functions, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate large language model (LLM)-powered features such as AI assistants, semantic search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines in partnership with AI/ML engineers.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and project progress clearly to stakeholders, clients, and leadership.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure system reliability and uptime.

Required Qualifications

- 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record in full-stack development.
- Expert proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with solid skills in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
- Hands-on production experience with Node.js frameworks (Express or NestJS) and MongoDB; familiarity with PostgreSQL or MySQL is a plus.
- Strong practical experience with React (Next.js preferred) and working knowledge of Angular.
- Deep understanding of system design concepts, microservices architecture, caching mechanisms (Redis), and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Proven cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including containerization using Docker.
- Strong testing discipline covering unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Jest, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Knowledge of authentication and security standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and OWASP best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain and defend technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving development efforts, owning deliverables, and managing deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong ownership, prioritization skills, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
