Senior Software Engineer - Node.js

We are seeking a skilled full-stack software engineer to architect, build, and scale web applications using modern technologies such as Node.js, Express/NestJS, MongoDB, React/Next.js, and Angular. This role involves leading feature development from initial design and estimation through deployment and ongoing support. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with product and platform teams to design APIs, develop shared component libraries, and ensure high-quality, accessible user interfaces. You will also deploy and operate services on cloud platforms using containerization and CI/CD pipelines, while integrating cutting-edge AI-powered features alongside AI/ML engineers. Mentorship and clear communication with stakeholders are key aspects of this position, as is participating in on-call rotations to maintain production system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect, develop, and scale full-stack web applications using Node.js, Express/NestJS, MongoDB, React/Next.js, and Angular frameworks.
- Lead end-to-end feature development, including technical design, estimation, deployment, and production support.
- Design and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIs, including Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers, collaborating with product and platform teams to define API contracts.
- Build and maintain shared component libraries and design systems using tools like Tailwind and Storybook, translating Figma designs into pixel-perfect, accessible user interfaces.
- Deploy and manage services on AWS, GCP, or Azure, utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, serverless functions, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Integrate large language model (LLM)-powered features such as AI assistants, semantic search, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines in collaboration with AI/ML engineers.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery while maintaining high code quality.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and providing technical guidance.
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and project progress effectively to stakeholders, clients, and leadership.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to ensure production system stability.

Required Qualifications

- 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on full-stack development.
- Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, along with solid skills in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
- Production experience with Node.js frameworks (Express or NestJS) and MongoDB, with familiarity in relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Strong hands-on experience with React (Next.js preferred) and working knowledge of Angular.
- Deep understanding of system design principles, microservices architecture, caching mechanisms (Redis), and message queuing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Practical cloud experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including containerization using Docker.
- Strong testing discipline covering unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools like Jest, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Knowledge of authentication and security standards, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and OWASP best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining and defending technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences, representing the team in client and stakeholder meetings.
- Proven leadership in driving development efforts, owning deliverables, and managing deadlines.
- Self-motivated with strong ownership, prioritization skills, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
