Senior Software Engineer - shopdev

Our client, Shopdev, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer based in Lahore who is highly skilled in AI-native full-stack development. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using advanced AI coding agents like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex to rapidly design, build, and deploy high-quality software products. This role demands a deep integration of AI-driven workflows, enabling the engineer to transform product ideas into fully functional applications much faster than traditional methods. The position requires ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from concept through deployment, with a focus on maintaining engineering quality while accelerating delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Utilize agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or equivalent as an integral part of daily development activities.
- Rapidly convert product requirements into prototypes, features, and production-ready applications across frontend, backend, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.
- Orchestrate AI agents for coding tasks including implementation, refactoring, debugging, testing, and documentation.
- Decompose complex problems into workflows executable by AI agents with clear context, constraints, and acceptance criteria.
- Employ parallel agents, reusable instructions, and automated workflows to enhance development speed and efficiency.
- Experiment with emerging agentic development techniques and integrate best practices into team processes.
- Design and build scalable, secure, and maintainable full-stack applications with sound architectural decisions.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated code for architectural soundness, security, performance, and complexity.
- Maintain high standards for testing, code quality, observability, and production reliability.
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to translate business needs into working software, demonstrating early prototypes and iterating based on feedback.
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and progress clearly in English.
- Share agentic workflows and knowledge to boost overall team productivity.

Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience with agentic coding platforms such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar autonomous coding harnesses, beyond simple code snippets or autocomplete.
- Ability to structure prompts, configure agent instructions, and manage complex multi-step AI-driven development tasks.
- Experience in debugging, automated testing, refactoring, and exploring codebases using AI agents.
- Strong full-stack engineering background with proficiency in React.js, Next.js, or comparable frontend frameworks.
- Backend development expertise using Node.js, Python, or equivalent technologies.
- Solid understanding of system design, software architecture, APIs, databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and production deployment processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to assess whether AI-generated solutions are production-ready.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Considerations
- A portfolio showcasing applications primarily developed through agentic coding workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver a minimum viable product (MVP) from concept to deployment within days rather than weeks.
- Experience orchestrating multiple AI agents across different project components.
- Knowledge of creating reusable agent instructions, custom skills, MCP integrations, or automated pipelines.
- Strong product intuition and pragmatic decision-making focused on rapid delivery.
- Active experimentation with emerging AI coding tools, models, and methodologies.
- History of independently shipping complete products rather than working solely on assigned tasks.

Candidates will be evaluated through a practical exercise involving the use of AI coding agents to build a functional full-stack product or feature from a brief specification. This will include task planning, context management, agent orchestration, implementation of frontend/backend/database/API components, architectural reasoning, debugging, testing, and deployment. Assessment criteria will focus on execution speed, product quality, engineering judgment, and effective use of AI agents.
