Central to this vision is Careem’s NextGen Programme, which focuses on nurturing the next generation of engineers through a structured learning path emphasizing Clean Code, SOLID design principles, and scalable system architecture. This comprehensive program spans all engineering domains, including Backend, Frontend, Web, Mobile, Data Analysis, MLOps, Infrastructure, Cyber Security, and QA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers within the NextGen Programme, ensuring delivery of high-quality services while fostering strong engineering fundamentals.
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable distributed systems based on microservices architecture.
- Mentor engineers on best practices such as Clean Code, SOLID principles, and test-driven development to maintain technical excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and improve engineering efficiency.
- Work closely with leadership to define the technical roadmap and continuously refine the programme’s structure.
- Build and sustain a team culture focused on learning, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Maintain high team engagement through regular feedback, coaching, and support initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- More than 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 3 years in a management or senior engineering team lead role.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and object-oriented programming.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, Python, or .NET.
- Deep expertise in building scalable distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience or training.
- Proven leadership skills with a passion for talent development and building collaborative, high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and enhance technical development processes.
