Senior System Engineer

We are seeking a skilled System Engineer with a strong focus on Azure to join our global Level 3 (L3) team. This team plays a critical role in managing both customer and internal banking runtimes, upholding the highest standards in cloud operations with a focus on resilience, availability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement and manage Azure cloud infrastructure to provide customers with access to the latest Azure features and capabilities.
- Develop and enforce best practices for cloud security, compliance, and disaster recovery to ensure robust protection and regulatory adherence.
- Maintain solutions that are compliant, secure, and cost-effective at all times.
- Guarantee maximum reliability, high availability, and uptime for the managed hosting services delivered to customers.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring systems remain resilient, available, and scalable.
- Drive operational efficiency improvements and contribute to controlling overall cloud costs.
- Utilize deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure security, cloud-native technologies, and desired state configuration to optimize environments.
- Work proficiently with tools and technologies such as GitHub, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Istio.
- Employ Grafana for observability and monitoring purposes.
- Communicate effectively to lead initiatives and influence decisions both within and outside the team.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in system engineering, including at least 2 years working with Azure cloud services.
- Strong expertise in Azure services such as Azure Front Door, Web Application Firewall (WAF), Azure Service Bus, Azure SQL Database, Azure Regions, Availability Zones, and Disaster Recovery (DR).
- Proven ability to implement scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Commitment to an automation-first approach, aiming to make all processes predictable and automated.
- Excellent English communication skills, capable of mentoring peers and collaborating effectively across teams.
- Demonstrated technical excellence combined with mentorship skills, providing hands-on guidance and fostering collaborative problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Prior experience as a software developer is advantageous.
- Networking knowledge, including VPN configuration, is a plus.
- Database administration experience, particularly with Azure SQL configuration, is beneficial.
- Significant hands-on experience with Azure cloud environments is highly valued.
