Senior Systems Engineer

Located remotely within South Asia, preferably in IST or PKT time zones, this role offers an exciting opportunity to join Fueled, a leading digital strategy, design, and engineering agency. With a team of over 300 professionals, Fueled has crafted digital products for top-tier clients such as Google, Apple, The New York Times, and ESPN. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and managing scalable infrastructure platforms that support a wide range of client environments, from small workloads to enterprise-scale systems. Your expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, CDK) and automation will be critical in shaping cloud environments, driving CI/CD processes, and ensuring high availability and performance across AWS and Azure, with additional cloud platforms considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end cloud infrastructure architecture, deployment, and management across AWS and Azure using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and CDK. Lead production Kubernetes workloads in EKS/AKS, including upgrades, networking, and autoscaling.
- Serve as the Linux subject matter expert by building systems, configuring and troubleshooting core services such as NGINX, MariaDB, and Redis, while optimizing performance, security, and reliability at the kernel level.
- Manage and scale data and caching layers, including MariaDB/Galera clusters, Redis, Memcached, and Elasticsearch, applying performance tuning and infrastructure-as-code workflows to maintain speed and resilience.
- Engineer CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps, automating repetitive tasks with Python and Bash scripting to enhance developer productivity.
- Lead efforts in observability, security, and performance by evolving monitoring systems, hardening infrastructure security, participating in incident response and 24/7 on-call rotations, and conducting load testing to improve platform stability.

Required Qualifications
- Proven senior-level experience in platform engineering or DevOps within scalable or multi-tenant environments, with strong hands-on expertise in AWS and Azure. Experience with multi-cloud environments including GCP and Oracle Cloud is a plus.
- Deep Linux knowledge, capable of setting up, tuning, troubleshooting, and securing Linux systems. Demonstrated success managing infrastructure-as-code projects using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or CDK from inception through long-term maintenance.
- Extensive experience operating production Kubernetes clusters (EKS/AKS), including upgrades, networking, and troubleshooting, alongside managing production-grade services such as NGINX, MariaDB/Galera, Redis/Memcached, and Elasticsearch.
- Strong automation skills with advanced Python and/or Bash scripting experience. Proven ability to build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab, or similar tools, coupled with a solid understanding of observability and security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation, collaborate effectively with clients and cross-functional teams, and participate reliably in a 24/7 support rotation.
