Avanceon is a global leader in system integration, specializing in control, instrumentation, and automation solutions across industries such as oil & gas, utilities, and manufacturing. With extensive experience, we enable clients to optimize operational processes, enhance asset performance, and drive efficiency through engineering excellence and cutting-edge execution. We are currently seeking a Senior Technical / Project Lead to provide end-to-end technical leadership and oversee the execution of complex, multi-disciplinary projects involving automation (PLC/SCADA, RTUs), electrical systems (MCC/VFD, power distribution), instrumentation, mechanical, and civil components. This role serves as the primary technical authority, ensuring all engineering deliverables, on-site activities, testing, and commissioning meet specifications, contractual requirements, and international standards including IEC, NEC, ATEX, and API.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Compliance: Lead engineering teams in reviewing and approving technical submittals, designs, and drawings across automation, electrical, MCC/VFD, and instrumentation disciplines. Enforce strict compliance with standards such as IEC, NEC, ATEX, ISO, and API throughout the project lifecycle. Act as the subject matter expert by providing guidance on PLC/SCADA, RTUs, MCC panels, motor control circuits, VFD programming/integration, field instrumentation, and power distribution systems.
Project Execution Management: Oversee on-site execution of electrical installations, MCC/VFD wiring, load distribution, motor control setups, and integration with automation platforms. Manage testing and commissioning activities including troubleshooting, loop checks, panel energization, motor run tests, and Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT). Proactively identify and mitigate execution risks to safeguard schedule commitments. Ensure all installations and commissioning adhere to approved QA/QC plans.
Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the main technical and execution contact for customers, consultants, OEMs, and subcontractors. Lead technical meetings, interface discussions, site inspections, and compliance reviews related to electrical and automation systems. Collaborate closely with procurement and planning teams to ensure timely availability of long-lead items such as MCCs, VFDs, panels, instruments, and cables.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensure timely preparation and finalization of technical reports, test sheets, MCC/VFD configuration records, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and commissioning documentation. Maintain strict adherence to contractual obligations, site safety protocols, and internal governance standards.
Team Leadership & Resource Management: Supervise and mentor electrical supervisors, automation engineers, technicians, and fitters. Optimize manpower allocation across concurrent workstreams to maximize productivity and quality. Foster a culture of technical rigor, safety discipline, and accountability within the execution team.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience: 8–12+ years of progressive experience in electrical, automation, MCC/VFD systems, and instrumentation execution.
Industry Background: Experience within high-compliance sectors such as Oil & Gas, Utilities, Industrial Automation, or Infrastructure.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary field teams and deliver complex projects within stringent timelines.
Core Competencies: Strong expertise in electrical systems, power distribution, MCCs, VFD configuration and troubleshooting, motor control logic, and panel integration. Solid knowledge of SCADA/PLC systems, RTUs, industrial communication networks, and field instrumentation. Excellent coordination, planning, stakeholder management, and advanced technical problem-solving skills. Familiarity with project management tools like MS Project and technical drawing software such as AutoCAD/Electrical.
Personal Attributes: Demonstrates a strong ownership mentality with a results-oriented, execution-driven approach. Possesses decisive leadership skills, especially in challenging multi-site environments. Maintains a high focus on quality, safety, and compliance. Adaptable and capable of performing effectively under pressure.
This role offers the opportunity to lead critical projects within a dynamic global company committed to engineering excellence and innovation.
