Software & AI Architect

An Ireland-based leading software engineering company specializing in innovative AI-powered platforms is seeking a skilled Software & AI Architect to join their remote team from Pakistan. This role involves designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems and frontend applications, focusing on AI orchestration and data workflows. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-performance features while maintaining strong architectural standards and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop scalable backend systems using Python and Node.js to support AI orchestration and complex data workflows.
- Take AI models and agents through production deployment, including prompt design, versioning, guardrails, evaluation, tracing, observability, latency, and cost optimization.
- Build robust data pipelines to support retrieval, embeddings, and evaluation processes.
- Develop React applications in TypeScript with modern state management techniques.
- Manage containerization, Helm charts, CI/CD pipelines, autoscaling, secrets management, and monitoring within Kubernetes environments.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Make and document architectural decisions, balancing performance, cost, reliability, and maintainability.
- Elevate engineering standards through comprehensive code reviews, testing, performance profiling, documentation, and mentoring of team members.
- Collaborate closely with product management, QA, and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into measurable and reliable features.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping and maintaining production-quality products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis, with the ability to apply these concepts to real-world problems.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems and networking fundamentals, including processes, threads, memory management, I/O, HTTP, TCP/IP, and DNS.
- Expertise in system design, creating scalable, fault-tolerant, and maintainable architectures with clearly defined service boundaries.
- Proficiency in writing clean, well-structured code adhering to SOLID principles, design patterns, and sensible abstractions.
- Experience designing APIs (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC) with attention to contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Strong database fundamentals, including data modeling, normalization, indexing, transactions, isolation levels, query optimization, and migrations.
- Disciplined approach to testing, encompassing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, with code designed for testability.
- Advanced debugging and performance optimization skills, including profiling, bottleneck identification, and resolving memory, latency, and scaling issues.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Extensive experience with Python as the primary programming language, including idiomatic usage with type hints and static type checking tools such as mypy or pyright.
- Proficiency in asynchronous programming using asyncio, with sound judgment on when to use threads, processes, or async paradigms.
- Familiarity with FastAPI or similar frameworks and Pydantic for data validation.
- Hands-on experience in applied AI and large language model (LLM) engineering.
- Production experience with Kubernetes, including Helm or Kustomize, Horizontal Pod Autoscaler, Ingress, service mesh basics, and monitoring using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Strong CI/CD skills using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, alongside best practices in Docker containerization.
