QGI is a company dedicated to building systems where outcomes are transparent, explainable, and accountable by design. Their focus lies in creating intelligence that can be observed, examined, and defended rather than relying on opaque or “black box” methods. QGI emphasizes clarity and evidence in decision-making processes, ensuring that users can trust decisions based on clear explanations and supporting data rather than guesswork or blind trust.

Key Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer at QGI, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services that power the company’s explainable and accountable intelligence platforms. Your daily tasks will include implementing scalable software solutions, writing clean and well-tested code, and participating in code reviews. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to translate research concepts into production-ready features. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and optimize existing systems, contribute to architectural decisions, and help improve development processes and tooling. This is a full-time remote position requiring strong communication skills, self-management, and the ability to work effectively within a distributed team environment.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a strong foundation in Computer Science, including knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles. Practical experience in software development and programming is essential, with proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or Go. Experience in backend web development is required, including working with RESTful APIs, microservices, and integrating with data storage systems. A solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their application in building maintainable, modular codebases is necessary. Familiarity with version control systems like Git and collaborative development workflows is expected. Experience with AI coding systems such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Agentic coding is also important. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required. The ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly, and collaborate with research and product teams is critical.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Familiarity with cloud platforms or containerization technologies such as AWS, Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes is beneficial. While not mandatory, experience in these areas will enhance your ability to contribute to scalable and resilient system architectures. The role offers the flexibility of full-time remote work, allowing you to collaborate with a diverse and distributed team while managing your own schedule.

This position provides an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that prioritizes transparency and accountability in AI and decision-making systems, contributing to solutions that transform uncertainty into clarity before actions are taken.
