Software Engineer Golang (m/w/d)

Fleetlery, a Hamburg-based Delivery-as-a-Service company, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer specializing in Golang to join their fully remote team. Founded in 2021, Fleetlery operates a nationwide courier network across Germany with over 5,000 couriers, delivering smart, end-to-end logistics solutions to B2B customers. The company leverages AI-supported dispatching algorithms, real-time tracking, and bidirectional API integrations to revolutionize last-mile delivery. Key Responsibilities
Design and develop a robust and extensible middleware layer that manages communication between internal systems and external APIs. Build and maintain integrations with third-party logistics and delivery tools, ensuring reliable data exchange. Implement webhook infrastructure featuring retry logic, error handling, and idempotency to guarantee fault tolerance. Establish comprehensive request and response logging across all integration points for traceability and debugging purposes. Ensure the integration layer remains maintainable and scalable to accommodate future connections efficiently. Translate complex business workflows into clear technical specifications and functional implementations. Document system architecture, APIs, and integration logic to facilitate smooth onboarding of new engineers.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years’ professional experience in backend engineering with strong proficiency in Golang. Demonstrated expertise in designing and building REST APIs and webhook-based integrations. Proven track record in developing middleware, API gateways, or integration layers connecting multiple systems. Solid understanding of authentication mechanisms such as OAuth, API keys, and token management. In-depth knowledge of error handling, retry strategies, idempotency, and fault tolerance within distributed systems. Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases. Ability to work independently, making informed architectural decisions with minimal supervision. Excellent written English skills to support asynchronous communication in a remote-first environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in logistics, delivery, or operational SaaS environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with workflow automation platforms like Make.com or similar tools is a plus. Knowledge of queue-based architectures such as RabbitMQ or Redis for reliable message delivery will be advantageous. Experience integrating with third-party APIs that may be inconsistently documented or frequently changing is beneficial.
