Texas Sports Academy is an innovative K-12 school tailored for serious student-athletes seeking both elite academics and advanced athletic development. Utilizing a unique 2-Hour Learning model, students complete their academic work in just two hours daily, allowing ample time for focused athletic training alongside former professional and Division 1 athletes. As an AI-first institution, the school integrates artificial intelligence deeply into its learning processes, team collaboration, and operational systems. We are currently looking for remote Software Engineers to develop and maintain the educational and sports training applications, as well as AI-driven systems that support teaching, training, and school operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy learning and sports training applications used daily by students, coaches, and families. This includes working on everything from data models to user interfaces and ensuring ongoing maintenance after launch.
- Adapt to diverse engineering tasks, ranging from building student-facing apps to creating data pipelines, AI agents for admissions, or tools for coaches. Work across the full technology stack and various areas within the school.
- Utilize AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex as primary development environments, managing a generous monthly token budget to access the best AI models for each task. Develop expertise in leveraging AI to enhance engineering productivity.
- Take full ownership of projects from initial concept through production and post-launch iterations. Engage closely with end users—students, coaches, and parents—to gather feedback and continuously improve the products. This role offers the opportunity to grow as both a product expert and engineer.
Required Qualifications
- A strong product mindset with a focus on user needs. You prioritize understanding what students, coaches, and parents require, validate whether solutions work, and iterate to improve outcomes.
- Engineering generalist skills, comfortable working across multiple platforms including mobile apps, websites, VR experiences, or games. You quickly learn new technologies and rely on AI tools to accelerate development.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex, demonstrated by production work where these tools were integral. You have well-formed opinions on selecting the right tool for each job.
- Solid engineering fundamentals, capable of handling any part of a codebase, debugging complex issues, designing APIs and data models, and writing maintainable code. Experience maintaining stable production systems at scale is essential.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills, as daily interaction with the U.S.-based team is required.
- A strong work ethic and eagerness to grow rapidly. The team typically works 60+ hours per week, including weekends, with compensation for all hours worked. This role suits those who want to accelerate their careers and take on significant responsibilities quickly.
- This is a fully remote position.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience building AI-driven workflows or agent-style automations that are actively used in production environments, not just prototypes or demos.
